Build Yourself Up- Ceramic ArchitectureProject Objectives:
To Students are tasked to design a ceramic architectural structure based on positive characteristics of self or personal interests. They will be introduced to various clay techniques including slab, coil and pinch pot construction as well as spatial relationships and texture enhancement during the architecturally based ceramics project. The structure should be interesting from all sides, not just the front. The students will research and analyze international architecture, particularly the works of Frank Gehry and I.M. Pei. Project Steps: 1) View/Discuss Architecture and Project Choices 2) Practice Clay techniques by making a cup 3) Plan what your project will look like from 2 views (In sketchbook). 4) Build Project 5) Add desired textures. 6) Glaze |

Op Art Illusions- Marker IllustrationProject Objectives:
To layer and combine 3 forms of Op Art illusions into a composition. To enhance the sense of space and depth through the inclusion of colored stippling dots based on color theory for aggressive and recessive colors. Project Steps: 1) Reading the History of Op Art from Scholastic Art Magazine 2) Practice Op Art Worksheet 3) Select which Op Art Examples you will use (See Handout). 4) Draw Project 5) Add Marker 6) Glaze |

Icon Printing- Still Life PrintmakingProject Objectives:
Students are tasked to create relief block prints from a Styrofoam block which depicts a still life object. The objects are self-selected to represent things they see frequently or have special significance for them. Students will create a varied edition of 10 prints - 3 with black ink on white paper - 3 with colored ink on white paper - 2 with black ink on colored paper - 2 with colored ink on colored paper Project Steps: 1) Bring in An Object 2) Practice drawing object 3) Select a strong composition 4) Draw on paper the same size as styrofoam 5) Pressing firmly using a blunt pencil, go over all lines 6) Print Varied Edition |

Larger than Life- Self Portrait PaintingProject Objectives:
To create a self-portrait in tempera paint from a photograph that uses a non-naturalistic color scheme. Project Steps: 1) Review Portrait Artists 2) Take Photograph 3) Trace Photo on Small Grid 4) Create large grid on final paper board 5) Transfer Image to final Paper 6) Color Scheme Practice Blending 7) Paint using color scheme |
