Seal of Approval- PrintmakingProject Objectives:
The students are tasked to create relief block prints from a Styrofoam block which depicts an invented family crest. The crest will include a monogram of the students initials, a mascot animal and a self-selected shield shape. Students will create a varied edition of 6 prints - 3 with black ink on white paper - 3 with colored ink on white paper Project Steps: 1) Learn about Family Crest 2) Practice drawing symbols 3) Select a strong composition 4) Draw on paper the same size as Styrofoam 5) Pressing firmly using a blunt pencil, go over all lines 6) Print Varied Edition |

To create a marker illustration which demonstrates knowledge of the art element shape, space, and form on a two dimensional surface by precisely drawing a positive character trait that you possess on an Op Art visual illusion background. Build Me A Guru- Ceramic FigureProject Objectives:
To create a ceramic figure depicting a guru, life coach, personal assistant etc, whose physical structure helps him to help you with some task. The figure should use at least two of the following clay building techniques: pinch pot, coil, or slab. The sculpture should be able to be viewed from all sides Project Steps: 1) View/Discuss Art History Figures & Disney’s take on Gurus 2) Practice drawing multiple views of a figure 3) Plan what you need a Guru for and how you could show it (In sketchbook). 4) Build Pinch Pot 5) Using coiling & slab techniques break up negative space around pinch pot base. 6) Add desired textures. 7) Glaze |

Tangram Cut Paper CollageProject Objectives:
To create a quilt design made from the geometric shapes used in Tangrams. We will use pieces of cut paper to complete the project and it will serve as a background for a future project. Students will explore reflection, rotation, and translation of 2D shapes to create pattern and repetition in their background compositions. Project Steps: 1) Create a Tangram Set & Practice 2) Create 9 Tangram sets in different colors. 3) Arrange pieces to fill an 18” x 18” tag board paper. 4) Glue Pieces of Composition onto tag board 5) Self-Evaluation |

Icon Ink PaintingProject Objectives:
The students will create an ink painting of a figure based on observation of peer and wooden models that will serve as the foreground for their Tangram Quilt Background. Project Steps: 1) Learn Chinese Ink Painting 2) Practice drawing Figures 3) Practice painting with ink 4) Create final painting 5) Cut out figure leaving a white border 6) Glue onto tangram background |
